Lesson 4- CSS

Looking back at what I was when i had not started learning about making websites, I realised how much i have learnt. After learning about HTML, in learnt about CSS. CSS is basically what gives the website its colour and different fonts. After looking through the codes and learning about how to merge the css with the html, I realised that making a website is not as easy as it seems. This tought me how to appreciate the websites that i have been surfing all this while.

What I have learnt in my third lesson

On my third IS lesson, I learnt how to make the backbone of a website. This actually means where the website gets the information to show on the website itself. It looks rather complicated at first, as there are a lot of codes to remember, such as the head the body and or course the HTML which stands for Hypertext Markup Language. The actual fact is that is not very complicated. All that we need is to do is to remember the basic codes and structure which is rather simple and easy to understand. Now I know how tedious is actually is to create a website. I thought that making a website required some software which helped create the website but i found out it was much more than that. Hopefully this lesson would help me in the future when I am required to make some web reports.

What I have learnt in my second lesson

My second lesson was a little different from how it was being thought than compared to the first lesson. This time it was on the forum. My topic that I had to reply to was on which one was better, blog or website. In my experience, I cannot say which is actually better because I have only created a blog and not a website. I have to say that a blog is much more convenient than a website. This is because of the fact that all I have to do is to go onto blogger.com or wordpress.com and in less than 1 minute, I can have my blog up and ready to go. This is how convenient a blog is than compared to a website. For a website, you would need to get the license to make a website, agree to the terms and conditions and all that stuff. However, despite that a blog may be more 'user-friendly' in this case, the place which you can really personalize till a point where people can actually make accounts for you is a website. You can't make an account for a blog, as in towards a person only. All you can do is that you can subscribe to him/her. However, for a website, you can actually make accounts towards the website user, making you a member. This actually shows more devotion towards the user in the website than compared to just subscribing towards someone, because to subscribe, all you need to do is that you have to press a button. Thats all. For a website, it is different. You actually entrust the user with your personal information, hoping that he would take care of it for you. This shows how much you are willing to know more about the website. Also, for a website, i feel that it is a more long-term kind of journal. In a blog, your viewers are expecting you to post about the most recent topics on the internet or in real life. This can cause a lot of pressure on the blogger. It is even worse when you are doing a blog on a certain kind of topic, as you would need to research on it daily which can be rather tiring. But, for a website, you can post your views about a whole series of events. You are not expected to scope down into a certain kind of event. You can just give a general point of view about this events. However, a website needs to be properly maintained which can be rather annoying that you would need to keep it in shape and free from 'hackers' and online 'pirates' or 'burglars' that try to take away your website from you. However, for a blog, your blog is maintained through the blogging company so there isn't much to worry about, in this case.

Thats my points of view in this lesson. I should really try to look more in-depth into the topics that I learn every tuesday. I also need to learn how to shorten my sentences because this is a little too long which might bore some people.

What I have learnt in my first lesson.

I have learnt that the internet has really improved and became something completely new than what it has been in the past. In the past, the internet was used so that scientist could share their information. Now, it has changed. Not only do we get to find information, we also use the internet for gaming, chatting and many more. In the past, they only had a few network connections. Now we have broadbands just to suit our own needs. However, as technology gets better, more people would take advantage of this time to commit crimes through technology. I just hope that the netiquette that we have now would impact more people around us.

My introduction.

Hello, I am Mark and this is my first blog for IS. My IT experiences are not much. I know how to use microsoft office and most of the basic stuff that people that use the computer know how to do. However, I do have some experiences on pojecting powerpoints on screen for everyone to see and also handling the sound which would be projected, but that is almost a different topic from what I am going to learn now.
